Do you think healthy lifestyle is too expensive?

The biggest reason why many people don’t give a chance to healthy lifestyle and working out. Is healthy lifestyle really a comfort that only few of us can afford?

I can’t afford gym membership, healthy groceries are too expensive, vitamins and supplements are also too expensive…

My father is always saying: “If people really want something they will find a way, if they don’t they will find excuses.” It is always about priorities. What is it that you want more? Let’s talk about it more…

I can’t afford gym membership

You can’t find 30-50€ a month (depending on country and gym) to pay for the gym membership? Try outdoor workouts! Go for a run or do home workouts. It is not only a way to work-out for free but it also provide an excellent change from sweaty gym to a technology free zone to explore your inner athlete.

If not, try to rent a gym space to play football or any other sport with your friends or colleagues. This could be cheaper solution for you.

Or simply avoid one party Friday and buy one month gym membership. You will have a bigger motivation to workout and eat healthier. And here we are-PRIORITIES!

Healthy groceries are too expensive

No, they are NOT! In fact, healthy groceries are even cheaper than semifinished products and ready to eat meals that people usually buy. The ones like smoked delicacies, chocolate, cakes, mayonnaise salads, sweet pastry and like. If you stop eating them and set a proper meal plan you will suddenly find money to buy gym membership as well as to buy quality and more expensive piece of meat. But what kind of groceries are healthy? We will get to that…

We pay for lack of our knowledge

In most cases this is the biggest problem. Here we can answer the question, if healthy groceries are really expensive. People usually don’t care about functioning of our body and nutrition it needs. This is why we give a huge power to manufacturers and suppliers of food and nutrition industry. We waste money for products that are marked as “HEALTHY”. I bet that if Mars company gives to Snickers chocolate bar label “SPECIAL BIO VERSION” while it is still the regular version, people would believe it without checking the nutrition information table. “It is BIO right? Then it has to be healthy!” Unfortunately, this is how most people think and how we give many companies opportunity to take advantage of it. MARKETING... 

It is the same in case of nutrition products. Only few people actually check the contents. As soon as we read the phrase: Clinically verified or fast muscle growth we add it to our cart. And if it has 20% discount? Well you would be a fool not to buy it right?

Let me show you 2 tips, not to get fooled:

1. Read grocery contents and nutrition information table

Stop reading compelling slogans and start reading contents and ingredients of macro-nutrients. Fats, Carbs (of which sugars) and proteins. This is the only way to acquire control of your eating habits. If you learn this, you will easily understand my meal plan that I will help you acquire in my blog posts. This way you also find the right companies and brands that will gain your trust!

Nice example is oatmeal that I buy for 0,60€. It is an ideal source of complex carbs and fibre. If you add the right ingredients you have 4 affordable healthy breakfast meals. You can check few of my recipes in videos below:

 2. Buy only the least processed groceries

By this I mean buy only groceries as vegetable, fruit, meat, eggs, dairy products, rice, pasta, potatoes, oatmeal, seeds, nuts, herbs… Only those that are not packed or mixed with other groceries with synthetic substances. Simple eat only food that our ancestors ate. The grown and hunted food they acquired themselves.

And last funny fact- we often buy groceries with latest expiration date when we should do exactly the opposite! The latest expiration dates the more synthetic and preservative substances it consists!

Well and all these facts proves that regular groceries are not really too expensive… 

Let’s have a look at another fact

Let’s compare high quality protein bar for 2€ with Snickers chocolate bar for 0,50€. Well yes, the price of protein bar is high. If we have a look at it this way than yes, it is more expensive… But if we consume these unhealthy bars regularly, your health condition might worsen and at the end you will need to pay a lot more for doctor appointments as well as medications… And I won’t even mention how bad these diseases might turn out.

 

Healthy lifestyle will definitely save your money!

I speak only from my personal experiences. I started with fitness and healthy lifestyle as a student. We all know how it is while you are a student… In most cases we need to calculate every cent… and I still do that. I eat healthy for 4 years now. I don’t drink alcohol (only very occasionally), I don’t smoke or have any other similar bad habit that would cost me extra money. That way I save a lot. Thanks to that I can eat healthy, workout and realize all the projects to help others. It is win-win for me.

In nowadays world you have to pay for everything, even for those things that are harmful to your body. The question is: “What are you willing to pay for?” Let me know I am curious ;)
