The most common nutrition and food myths for women

The most common nutrition and food myths for women

January 22, 2018

I would say that there are definitely more myths about food and healthy eating than those about workouts. Mostly so many web-websites spreading information about revolutionary diets that can rapidly change your body and it is not a surprise that those who don’t know about these things, easily believe and follow these myths. And leading a “healthy lifestyle” based on these myths could cause some healthy problems rather than help to lose some weight… Let’s have a look at few of them that are the most common:

“Can’t eat any carbs after 18:00 or even not at all…”

Honestly? When I was starting with a healthy way of lifestyle, even I followed this myth. I didn’t think that I should stop eating after 18:00. I only avoided eating carbs and I thought it will bring some miraculous results. Nope, not really. Your overall daily intake is what really matters. And as we are talking about carbs it doesn’t really matter if you eat them for a breakfast, lunch or dinner. Or if you eat them in one, two or six meals … It’s really up to you. What really matter is how much you eat a day.

“With fats, I will get fat”

THANKS GOD, this trend is becoming less and less popular. But still... For some reason people used to think (and some still think) that their reduction diet need to exclude fats or they would put on weight. Guys! Fats consists of your daily macronutrient intake! Together with carbs and proteins. And do you know when you put on your weight? If your daily intake is higher than your daily output. In that situation your body creates fat deposition. And not into your muscles. I wish… What more, for us women, fats are pretty essential part to our hormones. Woman body is a lot more incoherent and that’s the main reason why we should treat it properly and keep in mind, that excluding fats from our meal plan could cause some serious problems to our organism. And it is also one of the main reasons why women tend to binge after a very strict diet!

 “Sugars? Don’t you dare!”

Well… don’t take it like now you should eat sugars in a huge quantity. What I mean is that you don’t have to exclude sugars from your meal plan. Or more concretely to stop eating groceries that consists of sugars. Why? The answer is again the same- daily intake vs. daily output. So, relax and be okay with having a piece of “forbidden fruit” or some other sweets if it fits your daily macros. Also, including sugars in your meal plan won’t force you to have a massive cheat day or a to binge.

“I eat healthy but I can’t lose any weight”

Same old same old… Soooo many people ask, how is it possible that they can’t lose any weight while eating healthy. Or how is it possible that they even put on some weight while eating healthy. Healthy food or unhealthy food, it still has calories… If you eat bigger portion of healthy food and you actually feel great it still counts into your calorie intake. You need to face the truth- eating healthy doesn’t mean you can eat more. Or don’t expect you will lose weight. The main paradox is that these healthy groceries have (in most cases) more calories than the ordinary ones (for example raw food- yes they are soooo good but they have a loooot of calories!). So, yes keep on eating healthy meals full of prosperous nutrients, I totally understand you love them (I do to!) but keep an eye on macronutrients and calories to be sure you don’t exceed your daily intake.
